Some values never fade. They guide us, ground us, and shape the way we show up in the world. Yung Pueblo’s 7 timeless values – Compassion, Self-Love, Curiosity, Balance, Humility, Growth and Kindness are simple but powerful. But what do they look like in everyday life?
As I reflect on these values, I realize they are just not concepts, but choices we make daily. Small moments that shape the bigger picture.
- Compassion – Leading with understanding. Compassion is pausing before reacting. Its choosing to see the human behind the action. Maybe it’s the Starbucks barista who seems distracted when taking your order or the friend who hasn’t texted back in days. Instead of assuming the worst, compassion asks, ” What if they are having a bad day. A simple smile, a kind word – it all matters.
- Self-Love – Honoring Yourself. Self -love is more than bubble baths and affirmations. It is choosing yourself in moments that count. Saying NO without guilt, resting without justification, and speaking to yourself with kindness. It’s the quiet voice that reminds you; You are enough, exactly as you are.
- Curiosity – Staying open to life. Curiosity is the KEY to growth. It’s asking the WHY before judging, exploring new perspectives and embracing the unknown. It’s in the books we read, the conversations we have and the willingness to unlearn and relearn.
- Balance -Find Your Rhythm. Balance is not about perfection, it’s about awareness. Knowing when to push forward and when to step back. It’s the ebb and flow of rest and productivity, solitude and connection, discipline and grace. Balance is listening to what your mind, body and soul needs.
- Humility – Embracing the Learning Process. Humility is knowing you don’t have all the answers- and that’s okay. It’s being open to feedback, admitting mistakes, and recognizing that growth is a lifelong journey. It’s not about thinking less of yourself – but thinking beyond yourself.
- Growth – Choosing Expansion. Growth is in the discomfort, the stretching, the willingness to step beyond what’s familiar. It’s saying yes to opportunities that scare you, healing patterns that no longer serve you, and trusting that even slow progress is progress.
- Kindness – Small Acts Big Impact. Kindness is free and limitless. A genuine compliment, holding the door open, checking in on someone- these small acts create ripples. Kindness isn’t just what we do for others; it’s also how we treat ourselves.
Final Thoughts
These values aren’t just ideas to admire, they are invitations to live daily. Some days we live them with ease and other days we will struggle. But the beauty lies in the trying, in the awareness and in the intention.
Which of these values speaks to you most right now ?
